About Salisbury, NC

Salisbury is situated in Rowan County, North Carolina. It is the oldest colonial town with the highest population in the Western part of North Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the town has a population of 33,663 people—a 28.7% increase from 10 years prior.

Formerly known as the Rowan Court House, Salisbury initially provided all settlers in the area with the services of a jail and a court. Salisbury didn’t evolve into a town until 1755. The town’s economy was once supported by the textile industries, especially in the 20th Century.

These days, about 1/3 of the population is under the age of 25, and the younger population is reflected in the amenities. Salisbury is one of the only cities in North Carolina with gigabyte broadband capability.
